A progressive approach to mentoring, learning and development

This section describes how to identify the right members to assist and mentor new Companions. The best person for the role is not always the most senior member of the Chapter. Mentoring also involves promoting learning and development. Some of this can be done collectively in the Chapter. A lot of information about the Royal Arch is also available online and involves using resources such as ‘Solomon’.

What do we want (Aims) How do we get there (Steps) What to use (Resources)
Aim i) To establish effective mentoring principles for new and joining members
  • Identify individual members or small groups with the right skills to mentor each new Companion
  • Make links with any Provincial Mentoring team to support your mentors
  • Encourage new Companions to visit and see an Exaltation ASAP after their own.
  • Encourage new Companions to join any appropriate local Masonic Social Groups

Aim ii) To support all Companions to learn and understand more about the Royal Arch
  • Establish member needs by surveying or speaking with them individually (see GROW)
  • Based on this, identify the range of learning sought and whether this is best delivered to the whole Chapter, or by personal study
